Science is a light and sound art installation created by artistic collaboration ‘Luxmuralis’. The experience will take visitors on an exploration through elements, molecules, DNA, and the minds of the greatest scientists in history. Dazzling projections on Durham Cathedral's centuries-old architecture will delve into chemistry and biology, exploring the history of science and how it has contributed to humanity and its understanding of the world. The artwork also examines the link between science and religion, exploring the wisdom and beauty of both, while music will fill the cathedral to invigorate the senses. Luxmuralis has been touring cathedrals in England for several years, but Durham Cathedral was the first to host their artwork in the North East.

Spilmans Farm, a charming family-owned farm nestled in the picturesque village of Church Farm, Sessay, Thirsk. Established in 1941, this farm has been delighting visitors for generations with its bountiful harvest and warm hospitality.
The Dovedale Stepping Stones are an iconic feature of the Peak District, dating back to around 1890 when they were laid across the River Dove to accommodate growing numbers of Victorian tourists. Acquired by the National Trust in 1934, the area was designated a National Nature Reserve in 2006 to ensure its preservation for future generations.

Hidden Gems of Northeast England
Penshaw Monument: Perched atop Penshaw Hill in Sunderland, this 70-foot replica of the Temple of Hephaestus is Wearside's most iconic landmark, even gracing Sunderland Football Club’s badge.
Herrington Country Park: Located near Penshaw Monument, this picturesque park is perfect for walking, picnics, cycling, and summer events, offering a serene escape in Sunderland.
The Angel of the North: A Gateshead icon since 1998, this striking sculpture is as synonymous with the Northeast as the Statue of Liberty is with New York.
Tall Ships Races 2023 - Four days of free live music and family fun will also entertain the crowds with local acts taking to the stage from 3pm on Thursday 6 July. It is hoped that the event will provide a huge boost to the local economy and engage local children, with local schools all having the opportunity to sponsor one of the ships. The Tall Ships have returned to Hartlepool for the first time in 13 years as part of a five-stage race.
Holy Island - Travel across the causeway to Holy Island and discover this magical place. One of the most iconic landmarks in the UK. This mysterious tidal island off Northumberland’s coast becomes inaccessible when the tide washes over its causeway. When it’s safe to cross the causeway, expect to find charming cafes, an ancient priory, and a castle that teeters on the coastline. Lindisfarne Castle - Lindisfarne Castle’s origins go back to the old borderlands, and a time of religious and political upheaval. From the 1550s up until 1893 the castle was garrisoned by the government, at one point mounting 21 cannons. The castle was strategically vital during the Scottish Wars of the mid-1500s and later saw action in the Civil Wars and the Jacobite Rebellion of 1715.

The second largest inhabited castle in the UK, Alnwick has served as a military outpost, a teaching college, a refuge for evacuees, a film set, and not least as a family home. Richmond Falls are a series of waterfalls on the River Swale, close to the centre of the town of Richmond, which lies just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. They are located in an attractive limestone gorge and are a bit like a smaller version of the more famous Aysgarth Falls on the River Ure. Richmond is an attractive market town complete with castle which is situated on the River Swale, just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. To visit Richmond Falls, there is a small Pay And Display car park next to the waterfalls, but they can easily be included in any visit to Richmond by walking downhill on Millgate past Richmond Castle until the River Swale is reached.
