Cragside – Northumberland, UK

We’re gearing up for an unforgettable trip to Cragside, a fascinating Victorian home and estate nestled in the stunning Northumberland countryside. Known as a pioneering marvel, this historic house is filled with ingenious gadgets designed for efficient living, a true testament to the vision of inventor Lord William Armstrong and his wife, Lady Margaret Armstrong. Our visit promises plenty of adventure as we explore the sprawling 1,000-acre estate. Highlights include wandering through the Pinetum, where towering non-native conifers create an awe-inspiring canopy, and taking a peaceful burn-side walk, accompanied by the soothing sounds of burbling water and birdsong. The Rock Garden, with its dramatic stone steps and vibrant rhododendrons, offers breathtaking views, while the Formal Garden—a beautifully designed three-tiered space with an Italian Terrace, loggia, Orchard House, Fernery, and gothic Clock Tower—provides a glimpse into the estate’s grand legacy.
